Jim Corbett National Park is a part of Corbett Tiger Reserve in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It was the first place where Project Tiger was launched in the year 1973. Spread over 520 square kilometers, the area has a large lake, grasslands, hills, and riverine belts. This place is amongst those tiger reserves that permits an overnight stay within the park premises.

A home to more than 600 species of birds and 500 species of flora along with a wide variety of wild animals, the National Park is a place you should visit at least once in your lifetime.

However, visiting the National Park is no small task. That is, you need to know that carrying a few things with you is not only advised but recommended. Going on a safari itself is an adventure and if you are a first-timer, the excitement can make you dizzy with delight.

Check below and find a comprehensive checklist of essentials that you will need to carry on the trip for Jim Corbett Safari.

Right kind of clothes

Giving little or no thought to your attire could make the trip a nightmare if you choose wrong. Now, the clothing will invariably depend on the season you will be going on a safari. From April to June opt for light cotton uppers with pants or shorts. Khakis should be great, paired with sturdy footwear and sunglasses. If the trip is between November and February, take a heavy jacket, a muffler, scarf, gloves along. These will be needed in the morning and evening. During the day, a simple shirt or a light jacket should do the job. A hat and spare sandals could come in handy during summers.

Camera, Tripod, Binoculars

Photography lovers, carry your kit along with spare batteries and an additional memory card. Chances are high that you will need more storage space to take millions of pictures. A flashlight, adapters, and a travel pillow if you believe in comfort are a must in your baggage.

Other essentials

We can never really have all that we want when going on a safari. Lunging around a heavy load even if traveling in a Jeep is not an appealing prospect. At the same time, there are essentials you should pack in your bag.

  • First aid kit
  • Emergency medication; including anti-allergy pills
  • Sanitary requirements
  • Extra pair of socks
  • A travel towel
  • Soap and shampoo
  • Spare bags of plastic
  • Basic stationary such as a book and pen. A sketchpad and supplies of you are an artist
  • Bug repellents

Take care not to play loud music and always, always listen to your guide. They know better. Also, be patient and understand that you will be dealing with wild animals. They don’t listen to us. Do not walk away from your group. Getting lost in a place like that may not be as adventurous as you might think. Be alert. Enjoy the beauty of Nature.
